Article by Isak Johnson

IntroductionWe all had anxiety at some point. A few of us had experienced panic attacks.Chances are that if you had one panic attack you will most likely get another at some point.Let?s take a look at your options to handle a panic or anxiety attack. Why you need to solve your problem! If you are dealing with panic attacks or severe anxiety it will affect widely on the different areas of your life. You are having difficulties

with solving everyday challenges and small household tasks. Maybe even a get together at your place can be an enormous task to grasp. Anxiety is not something that will go away of itself. You need to take a conscious decision to do something about it.What is a panic attack? Anxiety and panic is a mind created disease. It?s a leftover from the time we were cavemen and often had wild animals chasing us. This is rarely the case nowadays, but when we find

ourselves in a situation we cannot handle or if we get scared enough (even if it?s a total irrelevant fear) we can experience anxiety. An example of an irrelevant fear that could cause panic attack is the fear of public speaking. This is not psychically dangerous but we can

cam make it very frightening in our heads. This anxiety could develop into such a state where it could cause a panic attack.

Why you are feeling this. You are reading this because you have a feeling that something is wrong with you.Don?t ignore this. I really advice you to take the steps necessary for you to live the life you deserve. It doesn?t matter if you had anxiety for a year or if you just felt it a couple of days ago.Our feelings are there for a reason. And they are is never irrelevant.. If you by accident cut yourself while cooking, you would treat the wound wouldn?t you?Even if it just was a small cut.But for some reason it can be very hard to acknowledge when something is wrong with our minds.

What about anxiety medication? When we?re talking about mental illness it is you that have to do the hard work. There is no magic pill (although there is plenty of medication out there claiming to be magic pills) ?magic pills? only mask the problems,

they don?t treat them.I don?t advice you to stop any medication. But please be aware that medications don?t solve the problems. Think of them more like pain

killers. Use them to ease the pain so you can focus on the problem.

What can you do right now? When talking to people about anxiety and panic attacks I often hear that meditation helps the best when they can feel there is something on

the way.The power of ?being in the now? is not to be underestimated. Here is a simple exercise you can do if you feel anxious;Try to be aware of your breathing while doing the following;- First, try to focus only on the shapes of the objects around you (cirkles, squares, triangles)- Next focus on colors. Find red objects, blue objects? you get the idea.

This technique helps you to stay focused and to be in the now. Practice this BEFORE you are having an attack.

The problem is seldom the panic attack itself, but the fear of the panic attack?

I recommend that you visit our site to learn more tips for handling and overcoming panic

attacks and anxiety

. Here you?ll find a short video explaining this article visually and lots of resources to help you in the future.

How To Overcome Anxiety and Panic Attacks

2 May, 2012 (17:22) | General Anxiety | By: admin

Article by Anne-Marie Preston

Most of us experience anxiety at some time in our lives, but for about 5% of people it is so severe and persistent that it takes over their lives, and can have physical effects such as panic attacks. It is estimated that 1 in 20 people suffer from severe anxiety or neurosis to a degree that interferes with their life. They become agitated and worried about issues that are often trivial or everyday events.

This may be something that you are suffering, encountering the constant feeling of ‘butterflies’ in your stomach, palpitations, sickness or headaches? Sleep problems are common and there can be endless health worries.

The situation is often made worse by stress (usually work related), noise and relationship problems. Events in life, even the pleasant ones such as a party or wedding, can make the anxiety seem intolerable.

There are therapies available to help though. Sometimes drugs are prescribed, usually to help people through particularly difficult times, but in most cases therapies are used that can help you to understand the anxiety and panic attacks and learn how to deal with them, such as counselling, psychotherapy, relaxation techniques, hypnotherapy and self-help courses for anxiety and panic attacks.

Many people who suffer from anxiety also experience panic attacks. But panic attacks can also be experienced by someone who was not aware that they were anxious. They are a form of fear, and in the case of anxiety panic attacks, a fear of fear itself, with sufferers experiencing an intense fear of the unknown. It is a kind of internal and self-generated fear.

Symptoms can include:-

* Sudden unexpected feelings of fear or intense anxiety.* Feeling faint or nauseous.* Palpitations or a racing heartbeat.* Terrible pain in the chest.* Rapid shallow breathing.* Profuse sweating.* Tingling in fingers.* Blurry vision.* Ringing in ears.

These attacks usually peak within ten minutes, and they rarely last more than a half hour. But during that short time, the terror can be so severe that you feel as if you’re about to die or totally lose control. The physical symptoms are themselves so frightening that many people believe they’re having a heart attack. After an attack is over, you may be worried about having another one, particularly in a public place where help isn’t available or you can’t easily escape. There are various treatments for panic disorder, from medication to working with a psychotherapist to gain more control over anxieties. Research shows both kinds of treatment can be effective – a combination of the two may even be better than either on its own.Panic attacks can be frightening and debilitating, especially if they happen frequently, and many people with panic disorder develop depression. However, the earlier you get treatment for anxiety and panic attacks the more likely it is that you’ll be able to put it behind you and get back to normal.

I am Anne-Marie Preston, and have experienced confidence and anxiety problems in the past, but with research managed to overcome them, also enabling me to help others. If you would like FREE reports and FREE videos related to self help please visit http://www.socialconfidencenow.com

Article by Thomas J Bronson

Anxiety disorders are the commonest psychiatrist disorders of the world. The ailment can take any one of the following forms -

* Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)* Obsessive and Compulsive Disorder (OCD)* Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)* Phobias* Social Disorders

Out of all these, the commonest occurrence is of GAD. OCD is mostly of a genetic origin while PTSD is the effect of one’s past trauma. Phobias are more difficult to generalize so far as causes are concerned as their causes are more diffuse.

A great deal of research and scientific studies are going on to unveil the secrets of the human mind. The Diagnostic and Statistic Manual IV (DSM IV) and the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems (ICD 10) have done a great deal of work in setting guidelines for the diagnosis of these ailments. The Diagnostic and Statistic Manual IV (DSM IV) and the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems (ICD 10) are responsible for setting the guidelines for the diagnosis of human mind related disorders.

Anxiety disorders truly disorder life. They increase pessimism in the patient and it becomes difficult for him to think or act positively. The overall symptoms of the disease enervate and tire the patient.

The psychotherapist in your locality is the person to go to if you think you need Anxiety disorder help. Sometimes, all anxiety disorder patients need is a good listener to cure them – something what psychotherapists most certainly are. Even a few sessions may prove helpful. Another trick the psychotherapist can suggest is Cognitive and Behavioural Therapy (CBT) which aims to improve thought analysis and will power in the patient. CBT occurs in two sub-parts – the patient becomes aware of his thought process and secondly, he tries to control the way his body reacts to his panic. CBT is one of the most important therapies used in treating panic disorder patients.

At times CBT is not used alone, but along with biofeedback technique. Biofeedback means attaching several small portable instruments to the patient’s body which measure body variables like heartbeat, blood pressure, body temperature and sweat gland activity. As the patient’s panic mounts, he observes how his heartbeat increases and his blood pressure rises. This creates an indelible impression on his mind and eggs him to try and control these reactions by controlling his thoughts. At times, the biofeedback technique is used in combination with CBT. In this, the patient’s heartbeat, blood pressure, body temperature and sweat gland activity are constantly measured by attaching to his body small machines for doing so. So now as the patient goes into a panic attack, he can see for himself how his body functions touch abnormality. Seeing this repeatedly makes the patient realize how important it is to control his panic-stricken thoughts.

It is also possible to get anxiety disorder help by making some changes in the way one lives life. For example:

* Controlling food intake – reduction in the intake of caffeine containing food, like chocolates, tea, coffee, soft drinks etc helps curb anxiety attacks

*Relaxation & Exercise – The antithesis to anxiety is relaxation. Several techniques for the same are available, some of which are -

# Deep Sleep – it is the best mode of relaxation, and relaxation is in itself the best treatment for anxiety disorder. Some poet has correctly called sleep as ‘Tired Nature’s Sweet Restorer’ which it is.

# Long hot baths, steam baths, spa treatments – water has the power to flush away negativity.

# Massage – the stress and anxiety can be kneaded out of your system by trained massage specialists. To help them, a huge variety of aromatic and ayurvedic oils can be bought from the market. Also popular are Chinese systems of special massages Acupressure and Acupuncture; these are also helpful in relaxing your mind and body.

# Yoga and Thai Chi are those physical exercises which have been employed in the treatment of anxiety.Anxiety attack medications are usually used in addition with some other therapeutic method instead of being used singly. This is so because anxiety is a psychotic disorder with the mind being the worst affected and hence a behavioural therapy must form part of the treatment. Also, drugs usually prescribed as Anxiety attack medications are downed by having side-effects. They may also make the patient get addicted to them, some can get abused by the takers also and some also cause withdrawal symptoms.

The major classes under which anxiety attack medications fall are:

* Benzodiazepines – alprazolam, clonzepam, diazepam* Buspirone* Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs) – paroxetine, sertraline, fluvoxamine* Serotonin Norepinephrine Reuptake Inhibitors (SNRIs) – Venlafaxine, Tramadol* Tricyclic Antidepressants – Amitriptyline, Trimipramine

Many of these drug classes are tranquilizers or sedatives while SSRIs and SNRIs function by changing the level of two brain chemicals – norepinephrine and serotonin the hormone of happiness.

How I Overcome Anxiety and high blood pressure miraculously with the discovery of a simple truth

27 April, 2012 (17:22) | General Anxiety | By: admin

Article by praveenben

I suffered a lot with fear and anxiety but amazingly get rid of it..

Anxiety panic attack is a disorder is responsible for unusual

physiological changes in the body and a sense of heart-attack. Recently,

I had also undergone the same trauma but come out of this crisis with an

insight and simple truth.

Recently, my brother-in-law was admitted in the hospital on the

complaint of chest pain and doctor confirmed that it was a mild heart

attack. He was treated in an intensive care unit for a couple of days.

The entire family was so worried for his health including his small

children. Finally, we have a sigh of relief as he fully recovered from

it.

The symptoms of anxiety and blood pressure made my life

miserable.

My desk bound lifestyle coupled with feelings of heart attack caused

to my brother in law, had its impression on mind also. My digestive

capability and the rate of metabolism also reduced. My body experienced

unusual physical problems including heavy beating of the heart, short

breath and also chest pain. I had also the terrible feelings of

heart-attack.

Symptoms of my suffering;

unsettled stomach and gas formation. Heavy beating of the heart. Short breathing and discomfort in my chest. Rise in blood pressure.Restlessness.Fear of heart attack.

Threat of heart attack and sleep less nights

I want experiment with mini lifestyle changes before approaching the

Doctor. I could see perceptible change in my physical condition,

nevertheless, I do not have sound sleep during the night. I was

continuous to suffer with anxiety and stress. I do not have sound sleep

either. The threat of heart-attack disturbed me and leads to anxiety

attacks and sleepless nights.

The lifestyle changes, I made;

Hard foods are fully avoided. Morning walk and meditation form part of my life. Taking short breaks while I am working.

Finding of a simple truth changed my life completely.

One day when I am taking my shower an amazing idea flashed in my mind.

Immediately, I started executing the insight of my mind and things

improved noticeably. What is that secret that sparked in my mind?

We are not heedful of incredible powers of our unconscious

mind.

You have no conscious control of internal body systems. The functions

of the stomach, kidney, and heart, lungs so on and so fourth are

controlled by Other than conscious mind. Conversely, we mostly rely on

our wakefulthoughts, which are any way negative.

We are ignorant of fabulous powers of our unconscious

mind;

We are not mindful of the fact that 99% of our mental

actions are controlled by unconscious mind.

Our brain has the amazing capacity to revamp and recuperate from the body ill health.

Startlingly our Other than conscious mind responds and

operates, taking a nod from our positive feelings and

experiences.

Be focused on lifestyle changes that inevitably overwhelm anxiety attacks.

From next day onwards when I am walking, I used to think and state

that my heart is very stable and carrying out normally. This is a fact

also. When I could take a brisk walk for an hour that implies that my

heart ispumping oxygen and blood to all the parts of the body. My belief

of my heart is strong and stable is therefore, logically and factually

correct. It is also a fact that when I am feeling normalcy, necessarily my

unconscious mind responds and works towards this end.

Disease is our own creation.

Our conscious self relies on others experience. If we hear the news of a

death caused by heart attack it struck our mind. We start fearing

ourselves based on others experience. We give no importance to our own

experience, although our heart is working normally. This is evident with

our ability to walk briskly. When we rely on other’s experience and close

the eyes to the power of our unconscious, we become ill.

Our General propensity (which is defective anyway);

We do not rely on our own experience. We are scared by the others experience.

Do not allow your feelings to turn aside from your own

experience.

Any ailment, including anxiety and panic occur when the conscious

feelings of the individual move away totally from the wisdom and strength

of unconscious mind. In other words, ailment occurs when we live in

fearful illusion and, whereas disease will be eliminated when we live in joyful realities.

You can attain freedom from illness by following;

Giving up worried illusions. Living in blissful realities. Taking up wholesome lifestyle changes. Trusting the power of Other than conscious mind. Leading the spiritual life.

Choosing the right self-help course

As I started believing the power of my unconscious mind, I conquer the

horrible feelings of heart attack and sleepless nights. Finally, I

triumph over anxiety panic attack caused by fearful thoughts.

6 Types of Panic and Anxiety Disorders

24 April, 2012 (17:22) | General Anxiety | By: admin

Article by JT Jennings

One of the reasons why diagnosing, treating and curing panic and anxiety disorders is so difficult is that there are a variety of different disorders under this category.

There are 6 main types of panic and anxiety disorders which all have their own symptoms and effects. It is important when diagnosis a panic and anxiety disorder that the specific type of disorder is diagnosed. This will allow the doctor to prescribe the right course of treatment and help the patient to overcome their disorder.

The 6 types of panic and anxiety disorders all have various characteristics. The causes may be different. For some types the cause is easily identified, while for others the cause may never be known.

Understanding the different types may help you to recognize exactly what type you are suffering from and allow you to better explain what is happening to your doctor. The types of panic and anxiety disorders are:

- Panic disorder: this disorder causes sudden onset of symptoms that create a feeling of extreme fear and terror. Other symptoms include physical effects like rapid heartbeat and trouble breathing. A panic attack is often misunderstood by the person experiencing it and is mistaken as a heart attack.

- Obsessive-compulsive disorder: Known as OCD, this disorder causing compulsive behaviors. The person cannot control their behaviors and if they cannot carry out their compulsions they may have feelings of panic and anxiety.

- Post-traumatic stress disorder: Known as PTSD, this condition usually occurs after a traumatic event. It can create lasting fears and constant reoccurring memories of the event. Symptoms can range from extreme fear to emotional numbness.

- Social anxiety disorder: This is a social phobia that causes a person to fear social situations. The person will experience extreme worry, and fear in simple social situations. A person with a social phobia may be very self conscious.

- Specific phobias: People may suffer from a specific phobia where they fear a certain thing. Common phobias include flying, spiders and heights. The fear is uncontrollable and extreme to the point where the person cannot cope in the presence of their phobia.

- Generalized anxiety disorder: This disorder is where a person suffers from severe worry and fear for no apparent reason. The fear is uncontrollable and unreasonable. A person may be triggered into an anxiety attack for no reason. The symptoms are similar to a panic attack and can effect the person in many different areas of their life.

Each of these panic and anxiety disorders are treated differently. Some treatments are designed specifically for a certain disorder. A person can usually get a proper diagnosis by simply telling their doctor about their symptoms.

While all of the panic and anxiety disorders come with extreme fear and the inability to control these feelings, they all still have specific characteristics that define them and enable the doctor to help a patient get the correct treatment.
