I started getting panic attacks 3 years ago and for the first year I got them all the time. Now into the 2nd and 3rd year I don’t get them as often.
When I get them, I tend to curl up as if playing dead from an angry bear attack and I either lay still or rock myself back and forth until I am comforted again.
For the past 2 days, I have been getting much more frequent panic attacks, and the first night I stopped breathing in my sleep and woke up breathing very heavily.
I’m afraid of falling asleep again in fear that I’ll stop breathing and not wake up.
My mom knows about this, and she comes in to check on me every couple hours, but I’m still afraid.
What can I do to comfort myself?
If it helps I’m 15, have 2 younger brothers, live with my mom. Just lost my friend of 8 years and don’t get to talk to my dad very often(my dad I’m very close to)
Yea I talked to my guidance counselor and my mom and we are looking into a counselor for me that I can talk to weekly about my depression and my issue with cutting my arms(which I have had depression and self-harming issues for a few years now and finally got the courage to get help)
I have insomnia, and I take medication for it and see the doctor every few months for a general health check type thing and how my medication is working.

It very common to get panic attacks in your sleep or when you are relaxing. Your body is completely relaxed and then all of a sudden the "fight or flight" response is switched on. My first panic attack happened just moments after I woke up one night and for months afterward I had problems sleeping as I was convinced there was something wrong with me physically and that I would stop breathing and die! Its a cycle…the more you worry the more it will happen and the more it happens the more you will worry. I know its hard to explain how terrifying it is! I hope that your mum is taking this seriously and that she can help you by taking you to the doctor and for some counseling where they can teach you some coping techniques for stress and anxiety etc. It IS best to ensure there are no physical problems and I found that once everything physical had been ruled out I was able to accept that even though the feelings and the fear were INTENSE. I was not going to die. Eventually you can comfort yourself just by saying "Its just a panic attack"

Maybe you should consider getting professional help from a counsellor or something. I’m not saying that you’re a crazy person, I’m just saying that maybe you have some problems that you need to work out. It might help. I hope your panic attacks get better.

From your question I think, your state is becoming worse but don’t panic, I know people with panic attacks for years and got healed completely.

It’s not a big deal after all you are only 15 years old. When I hear from people like you I remember a website which provides a complete cure for it without any medication. I suggest you to check out the website as I think it may help you
