panic attack questions.. please help!?
okay so not long ago i had a terrifying sensation that led me to the hospital three times in three or four weeks. every time the doctors said i was fine but i thought different. on a daily basis i suffer from panic attacks (ER docs said i have a nerve problem, primary doctor said panic disorder) my chest and around my rib cage area HURT so bad, i feel as if i have to make myself breathe, im very jumpy, im almost constantly irritated and very biitchhyy, i feel as if my veins are going to explode or are too small to circulate blood & i have sharp / stabbing pains in my arms and legs & sometimes i feel as if there is a band around my head. I lay awake or call my dad to sit with me at night cause im afraid something bad will happen to me with constant fear of dying. I cant comp[letely enjoy being around friends / bf cause im scared. Next month I have an appointment with a counselor to help with this but til then idk what to do!
ANSWER PLZ!
- sound like panic attacks?
- how can i prevent them or stop one?
- can the worry of one cause serious problems?
- if you’ve had one, where do they hurt?
-& just for reassurance, if i was having a heart attack how would i know?
serious answers only please. im only 17 and im very afraid. i dont want to go to school bc of these and dunno how to get my parents to understand.
I also suffer from panic attacks. They suck. I get shortness of breath, chest pains, the sweats, feel like I’m gonna throw up, etc. I’ve seen a counselor for my problem and it did seem to help. It did not completely stop them from coming on, but helped. I’ve been suffering from them for about 5 years now, and from over time I’ve learned how to deal with them and try to prevent them. Mine come from stress or being overwhelmed. When I feel one coming on, I try and relax myself and take deep breaths. Also I like to get away from what I’m doing and maybe go outside and get some fresh air. Panic attacks can take life as you know it away from you, it’s hard. You just have to do your best to try and take control of what’s happening to your body and live life. I hope this helped…Good luck.

they sound to me much like panic attacks, but i am not sure. i have experienced nearly all of your symptoms, and i know how frustrating and scary they are. the racing and HARD heartbeat, inability to sleep because you are worried, chest pains, etc. personally i am not on medication, but you should probably see a psychiatrist who can talk to you about your attacks, and possibly prescribe you medication. i am concerned that your doctors just brushed this off, because these attacks are really effecting your life and could be something more serious. i would also ask your primary doctor to perform some blood tests and/or chest x-ray to see if anything is wrong. i hope this makes you feel better to know you are not alone!

I had some of these problems because I was terrified of dying from a disease. I still have the disease, but I have found relief from the fear of dying in my faith of God. I know I have eternal life through Jesus, who died for my sins and will represent me before God on my judgment day. I do not fear death, and the panic attacks went away. You have the same symptoms I have. You must get these attacks under control. I think they are deep seated in some thoughts that affect your body. Over time, these attacks can lead to disease, and those rib muscles can become non-elastic from constant stress. This anxiety can lead to stomach disorders, etc. Just tell yourself that you are not dying. the attacks get worse because you believe you are dying. You are not, tell yourself that. Just lie down, and tell yourself you are not dying, do breathing exercises, and pray. It is in your thinking, sort your thinking out. If you can’t, find a good therapist and learn biofeedback to control these tensions. Hope this brings some relief.
