So for the past two weeks I have been experiencing chest pain and difficulty breathing as this lack of breath continues i shortly then begin to hyperventilate it takes about 3 minutes for me to start breathing semi properly after that i get a burning fealing through my veins and my fingers go numb.I’ve already been at the ER for this for three hours and their test were inconclusive and i have another doctors appointment on thursday, However today i woke up and was automatically experiencing a slight stabing pain in my chest and as my day progressed it continued and i started hyperventilating again and all the symptoms continued.. What are the doctors going to do about this? will they subscribe me prescription? are panic attacks curable? Whats the worst that can happen during a panic attack? can you actually die from a panic attack?

the doctor’s will diagnose you according to the symptoms you listed.a visit to the E.R.room was to stabilize you only they had a choice of admitting you or sending you home probably most of your attack was gone by then.chances are your doctor will give you Xanax or other short term medication.ask doc to teach you what to do in your case for a panic attack as everyone can have different degrees of attack so what works on one person won’t on another.yes panic attacks can lead to a permanent disorder if not treated and isolation from others due to the fear of an attack in public.her is some good reading for you i hope it will answer some questions until you get to see the doctor.take care and chin up things will get better http://www.helpguide.org/mental/panic_disorder_anxiety_attack_symptom_treatment.htm

I don’t think you can actually die from a panic attack. It may not be panic attacks. Get a second opinion and a third if necessary. Something is causing it and the right doctor will find it.

Good luck.

If it is a panic attack…the doctors will more than likely suggest you see a psychiatrist and get on medication.

Breathing is VERY important when you are experiencing a panic attack.I have panic attacks but I get different symptoms than you (I’ve never experienced the chest pains like a heart attack feeling) but I do realize that when I don’t panic and just breathe…the symptoms go away alot faster than when I panic. You just have to realize that everything will be ok and the symptoms will let up.

I also use aromatherapy and take L-Theanine.

Good luck.

experienced 3 PA’s a few months ago, assuming that’s what it is (you should go have all the tests run), in my opinion you need to get on it asap with medication. You’ll need to see a Psychiatrist; I took Xanax for starters (although this was temporary, as it is addicting), but it kept me out of the emergency room. Then some SSRI for longterm help; you should also check into Progressive Muscle Relaxation techniques. I went to the ER three times and PA’s ruined my life for a month before I got the right kind of help. It’s been a few months now and I’m doing pretty well. The medication is serious but PA’s for me were debilitating. I’m lucky to have gotten help so quickly.

I suffered alot from them after returning from Iraq. Docs dosed me with every pill under the sun to include highly addictive ones. I finally came across a VERY EFFECTIVE method of controlling them myself DRUG FREE. Check out the link below
