Hi I have been suffering on and off from panic attacks for over 20 years! Now they are back again, I have had my heart checked and it is fine, but I just cant seem to control these things and the fear it be a heart attack! I know thats stupid. Has anyone managed to beat this thing and how?

The body’s chemical processes, one’s life experiences, and many other factors play a role. There can be specific elements of your life and environment that make you anxious and contribute to the problem of anxiety, such as work pressure, academic expectations, or major illness, or there can be a general existential crisis. Constant worry can cause panic attacks
Aromatherapy is a good treatment for anxiety, and you can do it on your own. Lavender oil is particularly effective, but you can also use jasmine or sandalwood.

Vitamin deficiencies – Vitamin B in particular can often cause anxiety. Try taking a daily supplement of a B-complex tablet.
Learn some meditation and yoga techniques to calm yourself. If nothing else, closing your eyes and breathing deeply will do. These techniques can be used whenever you start to get an anxiety attack, and also as part of your daily routine.
A daily workout will help you calm down. The physical exertion itself helps fight anxiety, plus it prompts your body to produce certain chemicals that calm you and make you feel good.
When you feel an anxiety attack coming on, you can have a cold shower or soak in a warm bath, whichever works for you.

When you start to feel stressed out, drink a whole glass of water, or else sit back and sip a cup of tea.

I used to have horrid panic attacks.

What helped me was taking deep breaths.
Another thing that also helped me ALOT was marijuana.

clonazepam.

It can be very hard to deal w/ on your own. Some people can find tricks or they identify and learn to avoid situations that trigger panic attacks.

If your attacks are that severe, you should seek professional help either a counsler or a doctor for meds.

Good luck to you!

Very deep breathes until you calm down. I use to get them when I was younger worrying about everything or over anticipating things. I can’t say that they have gone away 100% but they are not what they use to be. Also try a hobby to get your mind thinking about something else

Stress is the number one factor.
You need to take time to yourself and think if the stress might be caused by family situaution, work situations, or personal problems. If it’s personal problems you need to go to your family doctor and get a referral for medicine

Use these simple steps over and over again until you become the master of your thoughts and emotions. You create your panic attacks not your environment .
Take full responsibility.

I was suffering from panic attacks for 14 years.
I did a lots of research and reading on the subject.

Here is a six-step approach to self-control when dealing with an anxiety attack:

1.ACCEPT–Recognize that you are feeling anxious.Accept your body feelings as a symptom of your anxiety and a sign that something is bothering you.

2.PERMISSION–Give yourself permission to feel anxious about whatever it is that is bothering you."Of course I feel anxious because…. and it is okay to have anxiety.I know what this is and why I feel this way."

3.BREATHE– First, inhale through your nose slowly for two-seconds,mentally counting one, one-thousand, two ,one- thousand.then exhale through your mouth to mental count of four-second-again by one-thousands.Do this for at least 60-seconds.

4.INNER DIALOGUE–Use truthful, positive dialogue to talk yourself through the anxious time.It WILL pass. Examples of dialogue might be,"It’s just anxiety. It will go away. I will not lose control.
I can still go about my business feeling spaced-out.It won’t hurt me."

5.DISTRACT–Get busy.Do something to release some of this self-induced stimulation.Your body is like a car in high gear with the brakes on .Don’t just sit there! Walk, jog, clean closets -but do something.Distract yourself from the way you are feeling.

6.LET TIME PASS– and try to see a little humor in the way you feel. You may feel weird ,you don’t look weird.Give yourself permission to feel weird for a little while. It is no big deal.Try to figure out what is really bothering you. Is it some type of conflict that you don’t want to deal with?Is it a scary thought? Is it a ridiculous expectation you have about yourself? How about the television program you watched last night? What is bothering you?

It takes time and lots and lots of practice. But the only way to stop fearing panic and anxiety attacks is to experience them .Then, work your way through them and begin to see that they won’t hurt you.

There is no need to avoid or fight .

YOU are your safe place and your safe person .
YOU can make yourself feel better.

Feel good!

No its not stupid panic attacks are scary! i have been having them on and off for the past 20 years too, when it happens again try this tip, first of all stay calm, then place a paper bag over your nose and mouth, and breath in and out of it slowly and calmly, until your heart slows down to normal, this make the heart beat go back to a normal pace so stopping the attack! i do this all the time, mine used to last for 30 mins but since i use the bag it only lasts about 3-5mins.and remember to relax more and they wont happen as often,i have a bigger gap between attacks now!
