Panic attacks??? Nineteen years almost twenty!!?
I am a nineteen year old female who gets panic attacks where i feel like i am having a heart attack but i am not. I have had ekgs done and they are perfectly normal. I often have a hard time calming down, and I am afraid of alcohol, caffeine and nicotene and certain times. My attacks always happen at night. I dont abuse drugs and when i drank i did it in moderation, I quit drinking altogether and I dont smoke or take in caffeine at night time. ANyone have advice or ideas on how to help me calm down??
Michelle, I know how bad panic attacks can feel. I had them for over 10 years. I am better now and rarely get them now. Through a system of applying different ideas to try, I found the the number one cause for panic attacks at least for me was negative, irrational thoughts. I also quit smoking, and fast food and sugar all together. I think while watching what you eat certainly helps, watching your thinking is the best thing you can do to cure panic attacks. Most people start worrying about things that they have no control over which leads to negative and irrational thoughts. Try starting a journal and record what your thoughts were leading up to your panic attacks. You might see some patterns in your thinking that you can address and change which will help in curing panic attacks over time. The number one thing is to believe that you can overcome this, and You will. Most importantly, invest in yourself.
