Panic disorder, depression, OCD, anxiety?
Soooo.. my whole life i’ve felt like i’ve had OCD. then in early november this year, i scared myself in class to the point that i passed out. then i went to the counselor at my school who deals with depression, anxiety, etc a few weeks later. she had me take this test and diagnosed me with OCD, anxiety, and a little bit of depression. and of course with the anxiety comes the panic disorder.
so i have a few questions…
1. how can i control a panic attack that i can feel coming on in the middle of class? (usually i can tell when they’re coming).
2. how does depression and OCD tie into panic disorder/anxiety? (she told me that it’s kinda like OCD building up over time and it makes me just like…. snap all of the sudden through panicking).
3. she suggested i go to this behavioral therapist but then decided that i go to some "art therapy"? what do you do there? i heard it’s kinda like doodling or listening to music to help you cope with a panic attack when u feel it coming on.
I’m on a medication to calm me down during the day. but 1. it makes me sleepy in the morning when i take it before school and 2. i can stay on it much longer cause it can become an addiction…
– and for the one answer— my OCD involves doing something to one side of my body that has happened to the other (if someone punches me in my arm, i have to punch myself in the other arm), when i see numbers i have to add them all together and make sure it’s divisible by 3. if not, i get shallow breathing for like 5 or so seconds. there’s a smoke detector in my upstairs hallway. i have to jump and touch it whenever i walk up or downstairs. same goes with this wind chime on our pourch. walking past it i NEED to jump and touch it.
^^ * i CANT stay on the medication cause it’s addicting.
4. how can i stop my violent shaking i get when im in these states?
If you have OCD then it’s logical to have anxiety!
You don’t have any anxiety disorder, you have OCD and Obsessions produse anxiety in order for you to do Compulsions ..
Also OCD causes depression.. maybe because you feel "week" against this anxiety "attack"..
Panic attacks come from great anxiety releasing..
usually when you don’t know how to control your breath and calm down on your own against a Compulsion..
I suggest go to a psychotherapist and maybe you’ll need to take some anxiolytics "and" antidepressants in order to "speed up" the cure.!
Don’t let it take time ..Sooner the better!
Drugs won’t cure OCD they are just making symptoms (anxiety & depression) a lot more tolerable…
Behavioral therapist though does…!
The most effective cure is the combination of both..!!
OK….
Stop worrying about addiction…
First of all you have to go to a behavioral therapist..
HOW did I got rid of medicine???
I become addicted asa long as I couldn’t stop compulsions You will stop doing them and suffer the anxiety for a while…
!
As long as you do compulsions you send message to your brain that his anxiety is justified..and it keeps on building and building until you will not stand it anymore…..
But if you go against it you have to "reset" some information in you brain , "false information"…
And all these bullshhh compulsions that you wrote down stop DOING THEM!!!
You CAN endure the anxiety!!
And go to the Therapist God damn it..! Instead of sitting in front of the PC and wait for god damn answers here!!
Do you know that for people who suffer from OCD More than 1 hour using PC per day is forbidden…??
Cause it increases anxiety..!
So stop doing these Shh go to the therapist …
also HELP for anxiety: Communication with as many people as you can !!!
Go for a walk every day at least 1 hour walking outside house!!
Drink milk mixed with honey in the morning when you wake up!~
after launch drink a glass of cocacola!
Use coffe or/and Juice in the afternoon together with (at least) three bars of chocolate!!
at night before you sleep: at least 10 deep and easy breaths and get rid of every thing you think from your mind!

1. Yes me too I can usually feel when my panic attacks or anxiety is about to come on what I do is relax, & think positive think about anything that will stray your mind off what you are feeling or about to feel, cause one thing I found out is the more you feel these emotions the more frightening & anxious you get, Jest relax & breathe & try to stay calm
2. They tie into Panic attacks because OCD is the persistence of irrational, illogical of unwanted thoughts, usually when you have OCD it really means that you can’t let these thoughts go that’s & that’s the obession, they tie into panic attacks because the mind creates a problem for us to fear & since we use our minds, to understand, think, comprehend & concentrate it can make a make believe fear as real as possible,
3. You should take her advice & go to art therapy I have never heard about it personally but go there & see whats up, my best advice to you is relax & calm down, the 1st step in solving the problem is recognizing it, & the 2nd step is telling someone I’m glad she knows your condition you have a little support system behind you now lol, but never keep all your thoughts & emotions bottled up cause it can not only get far worse but it can have you living in fear for the rest of your life on great multitudes of levels

Accept the painc.
Next time you feel the panic coming on, that bubbling white cold heat rising up from your feet and hitting you in the back of your neck like a grave-robber, next time you feel that: LET IT IN. TRY AND MAKE IT AS STRONG AS POSSIBLE. Because the panic attack is a BITCH. Don’t live like a slave to it, don’t be scared of it. It comes from a deep fear of humiliation. Don’t be scared of humiliation and you will cut off the power of the anxiety.
Trust me.
Trust yourself.
Don’t be a slave to the fear.
LET IT IN.
Let it flow through you and out the other side.

listen to your breathing when you feel an attack coming on, you’ll probably find your breathing has become shallow, take a deep breath, return your breathing to normal, these attacks always pass so think to yourself as you feel it coming on ‘ i will be fine, it always passes, i’ll be fine soon’ you will gain control of this, as i have explained to another person who has attacks, when you panic, your brain tells your body to release adrenalin and you go into fight or flight mode, it takes a while for the adrenalin to drain out of your system. you may not like special treatment, but you may need this if you can get it, a note that lets you out of class for 5 mins when this happens, it will let you get away and collect your thoughts. i wish you had said what your ocd involves i could help more.
the therapy would be good, you need to relax your mind, give yourself a break from your ocd. even a hobby, doing a puzzle, playing an instrument, painting, crafts, woodwork, sculpting volunteering, bringing old ladies cups of tea and listening to their stories.

There are 2 programs out there that are famous for treating Panic Attacks and Anxiety successfully.
They are: Panic Away and The Linden Method.
You may wonder, "Which one is better?" Don’t worry, you’re not the only one with that question.
The Panic Away program is more appropriate for people who can cope with their Panic Attacks or Anxiety well.
Linden Method is more for those who aren’t really good in coping their Panic Attacks or Anxiety well.
Check out the reference for the full comparison.

Art therapy will do wonders for you. I’m well aware of individuals who’ve had some kind of disorder, like ADHD, ADD and stress related problems that benefited hugely from getting involved in some kind of art/craft program. This allows you to focus your attention on something other than stress.
Also, as hard as this may seem, don’t let things bother you. This is one of the biggest problems people have. Tiny things bother them and it nags away until it becomes a real health issue. Whatever irks you, let it go. Realize it’s not worth getting stressed over and just move on.
If you feel panic coming on, shift thoughts. Do something even as corny as simply looking up to the ceiling and search for cracks and count them. Do whatever you can to shift your mind to something else. Even run off names in alphabetical order in your mind and make a game out of it. I do this. It helps.
As for the art therapy, if you’re into painting, take up painting. If you’re into ceramics, take up ceramics. If you simply want to build stick houses with whatever you find in your yard, or somebody’s yard, do that. Whatever interests you, go for it.
