So about a year and a half ago I had REALLY bad anxiety and I left the scene of an accident due to a major panic attack. I got a misdemeanor. Will this affect me trying to get a job as a medical assistant? I got help for the anxiety and stress disorder and I haven’t had any episodes in a long time. Does anybody know?

MAs are not licensed; so the misdemeanor would probably not have to be reported anywhere (when you apply for licenses is generally where these things are reported). An employer MAY ask if you have ever been convicted of a ….whatever; in which case you would answer truthfully.

For a medical assistant you are certified ( you get your certificate) so you should still be able to get a job. But your empoyer may ask do you have a misdemeanor (on your application or in your interview) and you have to answer truthfully but just explain to them the situation. And surely they’ll understand. Good luck!
