Understanding Anxiety Disorders to Help Cure Anxiety and Panic Attacks

When you think of anxiety disorders you would be forgiven for thinking that there was just the one kind. However, if you were to do some research on the cure of anxiety and panic attacks, you would be very surprised to learn that there are a large amount of different types. Obsessive compulsive disorder, social anxiety disorder, phobias, panic disorder and GAD (Generalised Anxiety Disorder) are but a few. Everyone feels anxiety and worry at times when something that merits such emotions happens to them. But there are people who experience these feelings at times when there are no reasons to. It is these people whose daily lives are affected in a negative manner that need to find a cure for anxiety and panic issues.
Panic disorder: Anyone who suffers from this condition will experience sudden feelings of panic and terror. They will also have chest pain, sweatiness, difficulty breathing and/or palpitations. As a result of these symptoms, the person sometimes feels like they are ‘going crazy’ or having a heart attack. Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD): Sufferers of this disorder are constantly plagued by thoughts which cause them to perform specific rituals and tasks. Social anxiety disorder: This is a fear of what others think of you on a daily basis. Always being worried about embarrassing oneself and being judged. Generalised anxiety disorder (GAD): People who are always worrying unrealistically and stressing over everyday issues suffer from GAD. Phobias: Phobias are intense fears that people have of specific objects or situations. Common phobias are of heights and snakes. Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD): PTSD is a condition that usually develops after a person experiences a traumatic event. The sufferer is haunted by terrible fears long after the incident.
Finding a single technique or medicine to cure anxiety and panic disorders is something that is very difficult to do due to the many kinds of condition people suffer from. Add the fact that each person has different symptoms and reasons for each condition and you will get an idea of how difficult it is to treat an anxiety disorder.
There are people whose symptoms are so subtle that they may not even realise they are suffering from an anxiety or panic attack. These people will not even look to cure anxiety and panic disorders. On the other end of the scale you have people who spend all their time and money looking to cure anxiety and panic issues because they suffer from these conditions so intensely that it plays havoc with their lives. Some of the symptoms that they may experience are as follows:
An inability to be still and calm Cold or sweaty hands and/or feet Dizziness Dry mouth Feelings of panic, fear, and uneasiness Muscle tension Nausea Nightmares Numbness or tingling in the hands or feet Palpitations Problems sleeping Repeated thoughts or flashbacks of traumatic experiences Ritualistic behaviours, such as repeated hand washing Shortness of breath Uncontrollable, obsessive thoughts
