Waking up to anxiety/panic attacks?
I have this happen twice a month. It got so bad last night I called 911. I felt I was going to pass out while my 18 month old baby was sleeping. My blood pressure was high too 150/100. Anyone else have these or have any advice.
This is nothing serious. It’s awesome you recognize it’s anxiety attacks.
Just go to a psychiatrist and depending on the severity and the time elapsed between attacks, he’ll prescribe something to help.
I’d try to NOT be on Benzodiazepines first off though, because I have Panic Disorder, and Benzos have saved my life. But unfortunately, they rule it, too. I am so physically dependent on them. And it sucks.

You will probably be put on an antidepressant/anxiety daily medication, along with something for anxiety attacks, as needed. Like the other answer said, Benzos. I didn’t have a problem with these at all, except for their effectiveness. They are addictive but if you only take them when you need them, which sounds like a couple times month, its very unlikely you will become dependent. I only took them a couple times a month too but I needed more each time I took them. So I would take one, then the next panic attack I would have to take 2, etc etc. So I just don’t bother with them anymore. Being on something daily though may eliminate the panic attacks all together though. It did help for me. Good luck!

My panic attacks started right after I had my daughter, I have had alot of counseling and tried meds. I took zoloft 50 mg for about nine months and it seriously saved my life I think. It enabled me to learn the tools and coping mechanisms.
It makes me wonder if it is something hormonal that brings on having panic attacks, but either way you need relief, feeling like you are either going insane or dieing is really a poor way of living.
Call and schedule an appt with your doctor immediately. Tell him you need to be seen ASAP and let him know you are having these problems and you need something to help you deal with it.
Then call a counselor and get some counseling…it helps so much.. I promise!!
They also say exercising has the same effect as the anti anxiety meds..I am not to sure about it though..my anxiety was ReaLLY bad.

I have been there.
edit: by the way they can give you clomadine for the physical symptoms of the panic, it reduces your blood pressure. Its not a benzo so it wont make you high, tired or loopy!
