Wayne county Michigan jury duty valid medical excuse?
I recently recieved a summons for jury duty in Detriot. I have a valid medical reason for jury excuse. I got a doctors note and mailed it off. I am on medications for panic attacks, anxiety attacks and schizophrenia. The doctors note says that I am unable to serve as a juror and that I am on psychotopic medications (I take Klonopin and Geodon twice a day). It also says on there that I am diagnosed with manic depression. Will this be enough to be excused from jury duty?
I’m from IL and I also suffer from panic attacks and depression. I was summoned a few years ago and I still had to go. But once they started questioning the possible jurors, they asked right away if there was a reason you could not serve. When I explained my medical problems I was excused with no problems. I didn’t have a doctors note though and they may excuse you even before you have to go to the courthouse. Give them a call. Remember if you don’t hear anything you need to go or they could put a warrant out for your arrest.

just call them and tell them that. dont think there is any need to send in all that paperwork unless they ask for it. i got served a couple years ago but didnt have a sitter, so i called and said "i dont have child care" chickie on the phone said "ok your excused"
