What causes panic attacks?
Also, what happens when one goes into a panic attack?
Thanks.
a panic attack is caused by a release of adrenaline in the brain, it creates the "fight or flight" response in the body resulting in rapid heart rate, rapid breathing, numbness in extremities, feelings of fear. Can even be severe enough to mimic a heart attack.
Skills can be taught to control your emotional response to this physical phenomenon. Adrenaline lasts only fifteen minutes tops in the body, so if one relaxes and breathes thru the attack, it dissipates and ends on it’s own, if one becomes fearful and anxious then one causes the brain to release even more adrenaline and causes a cascade effect in their own bodies.

It depends on why you are having them. There are a few different types of anxiety disorders that can cause panic attacks. And some panic attacks can be different depending on why your having them. You should talk to you doctor about having panic attacks and what brings them on and what all is happening when your having one so you can be treated right.

Myself I can’t breath I feel like im going to die, luckily thank God a friend had been near by that would be able to touch me and comfort me to breath in an out. I had a bag to breath in and out that might have been worse. they last like it seems forever but it might have been for 5 minutes.
The panic attach, and this is a guess, to many things going on at the same time subconsciously and while I feel o.k. it hits me. The past and the present problems might meet in a crossroads of my life when it hits. But to be sure call a Nurse at a Hospital or Doctor and just ask the question.

your state of mind. I suffer from these when I get really, really nervous. Different things happen when one gets a panic attack, it depends on the person. when I get one, my hands start shaking and my palms sweat and get clammy, which then makes me even more nervous. If i can’t control myself, I then start seeing dots, my breathing gets very short and it goes downhill from there. I’ll start hyperventilating, then pass out. that’s just an example though, different things can happen
