What is the best treatment for panic attacks?
I’ve suffered from panic attacks since I was very little, and my first major panic attack was when I was in the middle of a very busy restaurant. Another one was on a crowded train on my way to work and my heart-rate jumped like crazy.
If anyone out there experience those similar reactions.. What are the best treatments for ending these panic attacks? THANKS!
Having my own experience, speaking with others, and reading literature, I learned that "panic" is a defense mechanism that protects us from over-whelming anxiety. The problem therefore, is not the "panic", it’s the underlying anxiety.
I would suggest that you look into the "release-valve treatment," as it helped me a great deal with my anxiety. Also, do your reading and studying to give you a better understanding of the main causes and treatments of panic attacks.

I would suggest you see a doctor and get a prescripiton for some anxiety medication. I have horrible anxiety also and when I was younger I would just breathe into a bag and try to calm myself down.

It depends on what sort of panic-attacks you get, If you’re just stressed then you should just rest for a while, maybe listen to some music on your mp3. If you have claustrophobia I can really recommend fresh air. If it is because of any other cause it may be a good idea to see a therapist.

"If you get panic attacks, avoid the following:
* Alcohol
* Stimulants such as caffeine and cocaine
These substances may trigger or worsen the symptoms."

I have been telling therapists about my disorder for years. No one wants to do anything for me. That is why I have to drink lots of vodka. But I sometimes get into trouble because I get drunk. I am tired of it. I know I need medication. I buy Klonipins from my crazy neighbor. Those pills work pretty well. I really feel for you. Go to a psychiatrist and tell them your symptoms.

Because panic attacks are an individual experience, treatment options also can depend on the individual person. My advice would be to do some research into the various treatment methods and choose the one that is best suited to your personality and learning style.
