A person who experiences anxiety and panic attacks are susceptible to things called ‘triggers’- events, circumstances, locations, people and things that cause these to happen (they don’t come out of no where for no reason). It is the responsibility of the person experiencing these attacks to identify these triggers and avoid them. If avoiding them isn’t possible (for instance being in a public place with lots of people brings one on) Then we must develope ‘defusion techniques’- ways to take the power out of the situation that makes us panic. These techniques are different for different people. What calms you most, makes you feel comfortable….some people need quiet to calm down, and will carry an Mp3 player in public…other people count their breaths, purposefully making them really slow (this really helps most people), I find if I start singing when I feel the ‘signs’ I am getting an attack (heart beat quickening, hyperventilating, tunnel vision) I can usually avoid an attack, also if it is possible, I will jump in a hot bath, because the water naturally calms me. Think of some things that work for you, and try them next time you feel the onslaught of an attack. Good luck in finding peace.

Leave small notes everywhere reminding you that all your problems are inside your mind, so there is no reason to fear.

Panic attacks can be cured, but first you have to know what causes them.

You should talk to your doctor or a psychologist to try and get to the root of the problem, then figure out a treatment to stop the panic attacks.

The first step to learn anxiety panic attack relief is to believe that you have the ability to take control. Anxiety disorder is not a disease it’s a state of mind that can be controlled. The body responds to the messages sent to it by your mind, even if the situation is totally safe but your mind interprets it as unsafe, your body will respond to what you think. The first step in anxiety panic attack relief is changing the way you think. During anxiety attacks, tell to yourself “I will be alright, this cannot harm me and I will feel better.” Your mind and the way you think can control your anxiety physical symptoms. Changing your negative thoughts to positive thoughts will decrease and eliminate your physical symptoms.

The main thing to remember is you can NOT from a panic attack! nor does it lead to any life threatening illness! its simply triggered by something and a panic attack does Not last no more than 20 mins! I had them and still do but i found that after drinking alcohol, the next day, etc,it starts to kick in! when u learn more and find out, books, internet, etc about panic attacks it does help! As bad as they get and i know how it feels, dying, frantic phonecalls, losing control, etc. they do not harm you! it willl just run its coarse!! find out what u think triggers it off, is it after alcohol? drugs? even a smell!! then try to avoid it! as its hard to believe, walk in open spaces, parks, fields, nature and you will feel much better! confide in your family, tell them when u feel a panic attack coming on,ring them,u will feel much better after a few mins! Get a check up from your Docter and i bet he will tell you that you are a healthy person! I still get them, but i know its gonna run through me!! if you have a credit card i recomend this book ‘when panic attacks’ by Dr. Aine Tubridy. Its wriiten by an irish woman so u will have to get it on amazon.co.uk. it has a free cd with it also!! its the best book out there in the world on panic attacks!! It will help!promise! Good Luck and dont worry, you will be fine!!!!!! http://www.amazon.co.uk/When-Panic-Attacks-Aine-Tubridy/dp/0717144291/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1210357300&sr=1-1
