the answer to this question is simple and complicated all at the same time.if a black family moved next door to me there would be a very good chance that i and my family would be moving, and soon.if a hard working decsent black man drove his nice car through a low income black neighborhood that good black man driving his nice car would have the doors locked very quickly.black people have portrayed themselves as criminals and gang bangers, black men demean black women all the time in their hip hop albums and people listen to this stuff and cheer these rap lyrics.i do no fear native americans or irish people,so why do i fear black people.if i see a black man walking down my street i would fear for my daughters and wifes safety, will this black man break into my house and kill us.will this black man train his pit bull to attack me or my family?i and my 5 year old daughter go into a full blown panic everytime a black is spotted in my neighborhood.will a black man sell crack to my 5 year old d

Your ignorance amazes me. If you don’t know the meaning of ignorance (which I wouldn’t be surprised to find out), please look it up http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/ignorance. In fact, you may have to look up a lot of things today so I’d advise you to remember this website.

There are people from all races who do bad things. Have you sir ever heard of slavery, Hitler? How many white rapists, child molesters & serial killers are there?? While you’re pondering that subject, let me tell you something. One of the characteristics that I dislike most in a human being is that some LOVE to generalize. FIRST of all, not all black people are criminals and gang bangers or like hip hop or rap. SECOND, not all hip hop and rap has bad lyrics & there ARE white rappers. Also, there are many black people who have had a good impact on this society.

Obviously you have not been around many blacks & you do not understand them. People love to fear what they do not understand. Eventually this fear turns to hatred and hatred is something VERY ugly – disgusting even.

Oh, and then this line was really interesting “if a hard working decsent [descent] black man drove his nice car through a low income black neighborhood that good black man driving his nice car would have the doors locked very quickly.”

The amount of money that you have does not determine weather or not you’re a good person or weather or not you’re hard working. There are many situations and tragedies in peoples lives that cause them to have to live a certain way. And, if you have that ‘people are poor because they chose to be’ way of thinking, how many poor whites are there?

Quite a few.

I feel so sorry for your children. Of course, you’re going to pass your fear & ignorance down to them, creating yet another generation of narrow minded bigots. I really wish that the U.S. would become a country of racial tolerance, knowledge and respect of their fellow human beings. But with people like you living here, this will never happen.

If I thought that every old white man was like you, I’d certainly be afraid of them. Luckily I’ve got more sense than that & I don’t GENERALIZE people. You might not consider yourself to be a bigot but you most certainly are. Please, go educate yourself.

Also, instead of saying "why do PEOPLE fear african americans," you SHOULD have said "why do I" since you’re obviously asking about your own fear.

Please let me know if I was using words too complicated for you to understand. I’d be happy to elucidate. http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/elucidate

Go ahead and give my answer a thumbs down. But you and I BOTH know that I speak (or…..type) the truth. It’s just a matter of swallowing your pride and admitting it. The sooner you admit this, the sooner you can begin your path towards knowledge and we (as a country) can begin our path towards a greater U.S.A.

i don’t know why you fear black people, maybe you haven’t been exposed to a lot of diversity. there are a lot of all races and nationalities where i’m from, so i tend not to judge someone by how they look on the outside.

This post illustrates bigotry at its worst. I’ve had the good fortune to be best friends with minority men and women who I’ve had the utmost respect. Many are poor or middle income.

My bigotry (yes I have some bigotry) tends to be toward white men with too much income and big egos. Those men are far more likely to rape and deal in drugs in some way.

Your lilly white stock broker or successful insurance salesperson is more likely to rip you off.

Let’s be real, there are lots of bad people out there, but you are limiting yourself if you pre-judge someone based upon the color of their skin. I’d suggest you try to mingle with people of different socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds. You might be surprised about how different the world can be. I think the bigot (including myself) is the biggest loser in most cases.

Much of the male african american society, not all, culitvate fear of them. The music is angry, the lifestyle violent, their attitude disrespectful to any that don’t give them their way. If they want to be seen as something different by others, they need to stop promoting themsevles in that light. Other sections of society have their problems as well. Spolied, arrogant, white male americans who use their power and wealth to oppress others is wrong too. We are all ugly.

Some of these posts show just how little many people know about blacks. It probably has never occurred to them that the majority of people who buy rap and hip-hop music are white and those are the people who are more likely to adopt the dress and attitude. I work with quite a few black people and they don’t like that music and are very concerned about its impact on young people. I would also like to point out that it’s the record labels and TV networks that promote this kind of music and the last time I checked, they are mostly white owned and operated. This music sells and the way to make it go away is to not buy it.

Are you serious? Some of my closest friends in the past have been black. The whites outnumber the blacks in the area where I live and I gotta tell you, there is a huge number of white people that would cause me to fear. It’s every color, every race. Good and bad in all. We ARE all ugly, aren’t we?

maybe uh…you just need to get out there a little more… maybe? and maybe try to talk to a "dare I say it" black person…they are actually people too. Their s*hit stinks just like yours. They have to survive this world just like you. And they are after all doing the best they know how…given a heap of challenges both personally and socially..get a grip on reality!

Maybe help someone that you so fear…instead of standing back like a scared little child…

It’s a tough issue, because yes…the way some people like to portray themselves, well there ARE bad people who DO have that persona. And when people who are just fine try to take up that kind of image because they want people to think they are a badass or whatever, yeah it’s going to make people nervous. Because you just can’t tell who’s good and who’s not. It’s too dangerous to trust all, because you do that, they you run a large risk of someone actually being the bad version of that image. And I say large because the results of running into a bad person may be pretty bad.

I hope that doesn’t sound too horrible to say, but it’s just a fact of the way things are. When people can’t be sure, yes they are going to have a hard time trusting! But this also applies to whites (and others) who try to portray the same image. I don’t trust them any faster.

However…people in general are fine IMO unless they prove themselves to be someone to be weary of. I would NOT move. To be honest…we’ve only ever had one black couple in our tiny neighborhood, living catercorner from us. But they were always some of the best people here, we’ve known them forever. They moved away a decade ago (but rented their house out) and the husband has been itching to come back home here and we hope that they do.

I’ve got friends of all tones…good or bad depends on the person, not the color they come in.

there is nothing wrong with being black, talking to black people around you. what is there to fear about us its not like whites, asians, latinos, etc arent drug dealers and stuff. why dont u put your self in a room full of nothing but blacks and watch nothing happen to u. has a black person ever done anything to you. be more open to others, and less ignorant to people of color.
