why do people use medical terms to explain their social problems?
"im bipolar"= im a b!tch when i feel like it.
"i have ADD"= i don’t pay attention cause im lazy
"my kid has ADHD"= i don’t know how to discipline my child
"i have panic attacks"= i can’t deal with stress
"i have a thyroid problem"= i eat too much and don’t exercise.
However, these same people will never get caught calling themselves schizophrenic, a hypochondriac, or psychotic.
i apologize in advance to healthcare professionals who deal with people who REALLY have these problems, and those that ACTUALLY have them.

i agree, people would much rather blame a medical condition than take responsibility for their shortcomings.
be careful though. some people do have legitimate medical problems..

people generally get "medical" explenations with medical terms when they read about a problem that they themselves could suffer from..
Or maybe its because to underline the severity of their problem? Using difficult words would have a greater impact.
Not to say, people who do so, wouldn’t be suffering any less..
Its just well. Maybe its also because people generally dont give a shyt about other peoples feelings and problems.
They generally tend to go with people who got it made and dont have any problems. So underlining he severity, could get you a bit more attention if any..
Also when you just use 1 term that probably *explains it all*, its shorter then to repeat a whole story everytime.
Yes life gets faster and faster so you need to act faster.
Maybe that could be it.

Can I get an AMEN?!
I’m just glad someone else says it out loud. I think it started at the end of my parents generation, graduated in my generation, and will be out of control in the next generation.
The sad part is, all these diseases/afflictions existed in our parents generation, yet you never heard them excuse themselves with an overly-convienient medical term. Many (not all) doctors and drug companies today believe in solving self discipline, child discipline, and lack of spine by prescribing a pill. Not one, but two to four at least. Then, when our pill-popping geration has children, the side effects create more issues, it’s a never ending cycle.
Look at what our parents and grandparents went through- the Depression (with a minimal if any govt. assistance), — they got spanked, they worked starting at 11, and lo and behold they’re sane and lived!
I cringe to see in the next few generations what is accepted as "normal", and how high the level of rudeness and disrepect will go!
But in answer to your question, ……
LAZINESS & IRRESPONSIBILITY

One reason is because we don’t understand , why we are the way we are and a doctor giving a name to our problems seems to help — If the doctor doesn’t take time to explain why we are like we are , then it can be put off on them — Just my way of seeing the situation
Great Question
