Why do you think I suddenly have a fear of driving at night?

I’ll be driving and start to have a panic attack. I’ll try to think of something else, but I can still feel my heart beating really REALLY fast.
I’ve been driving for over 20 years–why is this suddenly an issue with me?
I don’t think it’s funny at all.

Serious answers only, please!
I just try to think of something else instead of driving. Sounds bad, I know. Like, what to have for dinner or what I’m going to do at work today, etc.

I don’t know how old you are, but as we age our night vision becomes more & more limited.
You may be experiencing this & not even realize it, but it may be playing on your mind. Does this sound plausible?
If this is not the case, how long have you been having this problem? Did you witness something that took place at night? Maybe someone shared an experience with you that is still in your mind? Could you have dreamt something recently?
Maybe a pedestrian crossed your path & you didn’t see them until the last minute? There are numerous explanations, but you are the only one who can gain insight into yourself & hopefully find the answer. Good Luck.

Is your vision changing? I hate to drive at night. I avoid it as much as I can. I don’t feel like I can see well enough but the eye doctor said my vision is perfect.

What are you thinking about when the attacks come on?

were you recently in a difficult situation regarding driving? sometimes after you have even a close call you’ll be "off" for a while. do you have difficulty seeing at night? maybe you have a problem with judging distance – my mom does.

what are you doing/thinking about besides driving when you have these panic attacks? this may not have anything to do with driving at all.
