Hi, I have been having really bad panic attacks lately and I was prescribed xanax and it worked but my doctor will not give it to me again because he said I only needed it for a week. I am now prescribed antivert but I have not taken it yet. My question is does this drug help to get rid of panic attacks? Also I would appreciate any advice on panic attacks if you have any because I have been feeling awful lately and it is very hard to do the things that I want to do. It has become very difficult for me to be able to go to work but I try to make it through.

In my experience antivert (meclizane) is used for patients that get dizzy (vertigo) from having post-concussive syndrome.

I have never seen an anxiety based disorder be prescribed antivert. People with anxiety are usually prescribed a benzodiazepine like xanex or ativan.

If this isn’t a specialist like a psychiatrist I would go to one

Maybe see a psycologist who can use hypnosis to reduce the attacks from your unconscious

well..my brother has one of the worse cases in Ontario…let me start by telling you to cut out coffee/caffeine period! it increases your adrenaline, thus making your blood and heart pump harder. Next…don’t smoke. Go to the gym and do yoga classes. the meditation technique they teach you will assist you in calming your body down when you get an attack. try it…believe me its free from medications and all it takes is a bit of effort
