Would a panic attack effect my ability to focus?
I think I might have had a panic attack about a week ago and since then I have felt very anxious and nervous. It’s also really hard for me to focus on just normal everyday things. It was the first time I had ever had an attack like that before so I just wanted to see if anyone has experienced anything like this. Thanks in advance everyone!
Believe me, my friend…if you had a panic attack – you’d know it. There would be no question. It’s horrifying! You feel like you’re dying and going to hell and there’s no hope and nothing that can ever, ever stop it.
Some people say that it feels like a heart attack. Every panic attack I ever had in my younger years, an ambulance was called. They couldn’t find anything wrong.
But yes – it can cause you to lose focus. I had my gallbladder out, was diagnosed with this, that, put on so many meds that I had to pack around a bag with me. It wasn’t fun. All the while, the doctors kept on telling me…"we can’t pinpoint what’s wrong with you!"
In the end…I ended the attacks on my own. I stopped caffeine, started eating right, got 8 hours of sleep per night, and began exercising. I refused to give my panic any more power. It was hard at first…but today, I haven’t had a panic attack in over…oh, 15 years?
(I also stopped using alcohol, which I justified as needing to "numb myself" during the worst attacks. It was a quick, easy fix, but it only intensified the next attack.)
Believe me…it’s wonderful living panic-free!
You can do it.
